Off the trailer!

And finally, after a few weeks and a letter from the home owners' association, the Apache 10 gets down from the trailer and into the garage.

Here we go!!!!

Woo-Hoo! Rolling the truck from the trailer to the garage almost felt like taking a ride!

The new bedroom

Well there it is! The Apache 10 made it into its new bedroom while the metamorphosis takes place.

What once used to be a game room will become a shop to work on the truck...and even a small scrapbooking room to document the process!

We are very excited about getting started, it is now just a matter of time.

Getting Inspired

Saturday May 3rd, 2008.
Thank God dreaming doesn't cost a dime, because for all we know and have heard....it is going to be a challenge and a huge expense to get our Apache 10 to look half as beautiful as this 1948 Ford Coupe.
Well, it's okay~ It is a shared dream and a team effort...we'll get there!

Magic 48

Saturday May 3rd 2008.
We got together with our friends Ann, Bobby and Donna, who brought her amazing Hot Rod to give us plenty of inspiration and lots to look forward to.
Mrs. Donna Bohls is the proud owner of this magnificent 1948 Ford Coupe that she calls "Magic 48", the pictures aren't as incredible as this car is when you look at it in front of you.
Donna is a member of the Long Star Street Rod Association, we'll be joining her during the State Run the weekend of May 18th, in Fredericksburg TX.
We are so much looking forward to going to check out all of the cars!....You could too! if interested visit http://www.lssra.com/ for membership and show information.

kids just want to have fun

Saturday May 3th, 2008
Of course magic 48 is a magnet...it doesn't matter if you are an adult or a kid, this beautiful vehicle will catch your attention and make you want to have a car just like this one.

The boys checked out the inside of the hot rod while I took this photo ...I can see our Apache 10 in the background...the fun is just about the begin!

Deep Thoughts

Wednesday, April 30th 2008.
Wow...when I saw him looking at his truck like this, I actually saw some of his thoughts.

I admire a man that dreams, and I admire a man that shares and pursues his dreams.

We discussed colors, themes, and the final name for the vehicle.

Being miss little paranoid as I am, I have decided to copyright the name before we announce it.

We are excited.

And they say women are "the curious" ones.

Wednesday, April 30th 2008.

We barely stood up there for a few minutes, and "the guys" started to show up and ask all kinds of questions...and of course offered their "free" advice.

The guy in the far left is Dustin, (Chris's friend and next door neighbor) the other guys are his band members; they were "practicing" their tunes when they saw Chris standing outside and decided to come and have a "male bonding" moment.

I know Chris is proud of the truck...because he can see the beauty in the beast as he himself says.

The driveway as of today.

Wednesday April 30th, 2008.

It was a long day at work for both of us, but we finally made it home and of course after the usual house chores, we decided to go outside and talk about THE truck and the ideas we are coming up with.

Everybody along the street is getting curious...we know it is a matter of time to get "THE" letter from the home owners association; it's okay, we are waiting for it to then move the vehicle to a temporary location while we work on somehow having a place where we can have easy access to it and as often as we want.

We wonder if we have enough trucks parked in the driveway...what do you think?

Bon Voyage!

April 28th, 2008.

Eric and Veronica played in the Apache 10 for the very first time today while parked outside of the house. We are still deciding where will we park it permanently while we work on it. We do have a few options but we want to opt for the one that is best for both parties.

Eric is showing a lot of interest in the remodeling plans for the Apache 10, he's ready to start!

Sharing a minute.

April 28th, 2008

Chris and Eric sat together for some "dude/truck" conversation. Eric is particularly excited about the whole "Hot Rod" idea, he's anxious to start doing some work and keeps wondering "when will we paint it???!"...he doesn't quite understand the length of time and dedication this whole thing will take, but we think he will not only enjoy it but also appreciate it!.

Holding on to the future

Monday April 28th, 2008.
Here we were at the end of our day taking a minute to look at the truck together and start doing some planning. This was the very first time we sat inside and looked at the space, we talked about colors, the possibility of one day having A/C installed, the fact that Chris would like to get the engine of a suburban in this Apache 10, etc.

This is going to be fun! A dream that is shared is twice as much enjoyable as having a dream for oneself only!

Here we are!

We are so excited about this new adventure...we can almost see the future!

Our New "KID"

Meet our new 1960 Chevrolet Apache. Chris saw this vehicle for the first time many years ago, while it was still driveable, in Winter, TX.

He has always wanted to own and remodel/rebuild a vehicle and turn it into a Hot Rod, well, he owns one now!!!
We adopted our new kid from Frank and Isabel of Winters whom Chris has admired and respected for many years. This couple has shared with us many of their memories in this old Apache 10. One day we would like to share the excitement of taking our new pride and joy for a ride with this awesome couple.

So many thoughts, so many ideas, so many dreams...and one day this vehicle will be a hot rod indeed. The new life of this Apache, has just begun.

Emilio

He has too much to say about the truck...he first didn't think it was such a great idea, but after being involved in the process of helping put the tires, dragging it from the lot, and transporting it from Winters to Kyle, he seems to have found a real interest and he has started to do some research on his own.

Jace

Jace left everything else aside to be sure he had some involvement in the whole truck story. He went with the guys to lend his experienced and helping hands and put himself to good use while helping to change tires and wash the vehicle. He and Veronica became good friends through the washing of the truck...specially after they got each other soaking wet with the hose.

Eric

Sweet Eric gets really excited about learning to become independant, he has never attempted to mess with a tire before, but he was more than willing to try and getting involved.

Veronica meets the truck!

Veronica didn't get to participate in the actual transporting of the vehicle from the lot to the grandparent's house...that was the guys' job!, but as soon as she saw it and heard that there was a need for a washing crew, she was the first one willing to lend a hand and become more involved in the whole thing.

Let's clean it up!

The kids had a great time participating in the clean up of the truck....mainly because they were able to make a mess !!!

Jace, Eric and Veronica were the cleaning crew...they actually did a good job!
